Cognitive Linguistics East of Eden is a joint conference organized by the Finnish Cognitive Linguistics Association (FiCLA) and the Slavic Cognitive Linguistics Association (SCLA). It will take place in Turku, Finland, on September 13 to 15, 2002.

The conference will take place at the Fennicum building located on the campus of the university of Turku (address: Henrikinkatu 4). A map of the campus area can be found at www.utu.fi/kartta/indexen.htmll where links are provided to close-up maps of the campus hill and Fennicum. For maps of Turku, and for other general information see www.turkutouring.fi.

--> Getting to Turku

Turku is accessible by air (Finnair/Oneworld and SAS/Star alliance; direct flights from Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen), by train (from the directions of Helsinki and Tampere), by bus (e.g., from Helsinki; there is also an express bus service from Helsinki airport to Turku) and by ferry (from Stockholm; Silja Line and Viking Line). The central railway station and the bus station are located quite close to the city centre. From the airport and from the ferry harbor you can take bus number 1 to the city centre (to the Market Square Kauppatori). The bus departs every 20 minutes. If you come from Helsinki by train then you may also step out at the Kupittaa station which is closer to the campus and to the Turun Karina hotel (see below). The express buses from Helsinki and from the Helsinki airport also stop at the crossing of Itäinen Pitkäkatu and Uudenmaankatu (the name of the bus stop is Uudenmaantulli), which is quite close to the Turun Karina hotel.
